Born in Minnesota's Arrowhead Country, Ken Hupila has spent his life pursuing outdoor interests from the big Lake country of Lake Winnebagoshish to the
Boundary Waters Canoe Area and east to Lake Superior. He began teaching and coaching in 1978 at Ely Memorial High School. Raising his family in northern
Minnesota allowed him to introduce his children to all the wonders that nature could provide. During his 33 years as a teacher, Ken spent his summers as a fishing
guide in the Boundary Waters.
Since 2002 photography has taken Ken in a different direction. While still guiding and teaching, photography has become an obsession and he replaced fishing
with photography. Ken conducts workshops, excursions and classes in the Superior National Forest, along the shore of Lake Superior and in the Boundary Waters.
